Wailua River Kayak & Waterfall Hike
Get ready for the most popular kayak tour in Kauai! Paddle your way up the serene Wailua River, covering two miles each way to reach a trailhead only accessible by water. From there, you'll embark on a one-mile hike through a lush Hawaiian jungle, leading you to a stunning waterfall.
What To Expect
- The river is calm and perfect for beginner paddlers. You’ll be in two-person kayaks, sharing the paddling with a partner. The hike is mostly shaded by dense jungle foliage, with boardwalks to make the trek easier, though it can still be muddy and slippery in some spots. Expect a few stream crossings along the way, so be sure to wear closed toed shoes.
Itinary
- You'll enjoy a one-hour stop at the waterfall, perfect for swimming, soaking in the scenery, and snapping lots of pictures! Afterward, you'll hike back and paddle the way you came. The total duration of this adventure is about 5 hours, including 4 miles of paddling and 2 miles of hiking roundtrip. The guided tours include kayak instructions. If you choose the rental option we'll set you up with a map for navigating the hike.
Advisories
- This adventure requires some navigation of rocky and slippery spots, so be ready for a bit of a challenge and make sure you're in good health. Wear a bathing suit, sunscreen, sunglasses, and closed-toed shoes that you don't mind getting muddy. Bring bug spray, lunch, and water if the tour doesn’t provide it. Waterproof dry bags are included, so don’t forget your camera or smartphone.
